Community Spotlight – Why we Give Back to The Niagara Region

It’s the second weekend of May 2024 – and the air is crisp. The sun is shining, and 12 loyal foursomes are polishing up their golf clubs to hit the links.

But it’s no normal golf game. Nope, this one is special. And why is it so special?

Well, SteveBuilt decided that we wanted to get involved in our community and host the Inaugural SteveBuilt Annual Charity Golf Tournament. You see, Niagara-on-the-lake and the Niagara Region as a whole is more than just the place that we work.

We live here, we love it here, and we love being able to have a real, tangible impact on our community.

For the first Charity Golf Tournament, we decided to give all of the proceeds to Gillian’s Place, to support female victims of domestic violence in the Niagara Region.

As one of Ontario’s first shelters for those experiencing abuse – Gillian’s Place has been giving safe refuge and supporting programs to the public for years.

They offer a crisis support line, safe shelter, child and youth services, counselling, legal services, second stage housing, support services and educational resources for those in need.

When we were deciding which charity to work with, we felt that Gillian’s place would be a great fit.

We created opportunities for local businesses to sponsor each of the 9 holes, golf cart sponsorships, and each foursome bought in to play their game.

All in, we raised $7,500 for Gillian’s Place, which was accepted by a representative mid-afternoon.

Following the conclusion of the tournament, we awarded Marty’s Heating and Air the trophy, for their victory over all the other 11 foursomes.

This Charity Golf Tournament was the first of many more to come, and we’re so pleased to be able to give back to the community that we know and love so much.

Events like these really bring the local businesses and citizens of Niagara together in a huge way, and we’re thrilled that we were able to generate such a sizeable charitable donation for a great cause.

If you have any ideas about how we can do more of these events, or if you’re involved in any charitable organization that could use a fundraising event such as this one, please reach out and let us know.

These events are important for our community, and we’re excited to be entering a new era of giving back.

Sincerely, The SteveBuilt Team
