Time and time again, older homes feature main floor footprints that utilize too many walls to create separate spaces. The best way to combat this outdated trend? Steel beams.

When we gutted the house down the studs, we installed a steel beam that replaced the function of the original load bearing wall. We then capped it in a rustic wood style to better suit the aesthetic finish of the space. To finish bringing it into the 21st century, we installed new flooring, custom cabinetry, countertops and an island in the kitchen.

Wouldn’t you just love to share some cozy nights with family in this space? Everyone’s together now – just as it should be. This is one to be proud of.

We chose SteveBuilt to do our main floor renovation and are extremely pleased with our decision. The project started on time and followed the schedule set out by Steve perfectly. I met with Steve from SteveBuilt after doing some research online. After meeting with Steve and discussing what I wanted to do, I went ahead and booked in my project. Although my house is small, I still wanted attention to detail and quality work. We had a great experience with SteveBuilt. Steve and his crew, (Dave and Rob were our main on site carpenters ) were great, very professional and paid attention to daily details of the job. The guys kept the jobsite as clean as possible, which was imperative with 3 dogs coming home each night. Amber was amazing through the whole thing, answering all my questions at all times, never leaving me guessing or questioning anything as things moved forward. We remodeled our main floor, took down a load bearing wall to open things up, installed a beautiful new kitchen, installed new flooring throughout and added a new welcoming front porch to the house. We are very satisfied with the project that Steve completed at our house. The addition of a patio and overhead permanent roof was perfectly designed to match the existing architecture of our home.
